8 million project to strengthen local supply chains

CINTECH AGROALIMENTAIRE (CINTECH) RECEIVES $6.46 MILLION IN FUNDING FROM THE MINISTÈRE DE L’ÉCONOMIE ET DE L’INNOVATION DU QUÉBEC (MEI) FOR AN $8 MILLION PROJECT TO HELP STRENGTHEN AND EXPAND QUEBEC SUPPLY CHAINS IN THE FOOD PROCESSING SECTOR.

At a time when Quebec’s agri-food industry is enabling greater food self-sufficiency and providing employment for a good proportion of the population, Cintech is initiating a support program to strengthen and expand local supply chains. This project implemented by Cintech is in line with the vision of the Quebec Government’s 2018-2025 Biofood Policy, which proposes to feed our world with a biofood sector that is prosperous, sustainable, rooted in the territory and committed to improving the health of Quebecers.

Through the collaboration of its team of multidisciplinary experts with various partners, Cintech will support some one hundred Quebec agri-food companies in the realization of 135 projects. The mandate will help accelerate companies “commitment to local sourcing, and enhance agri-food companies” agility and capacity to use and benefit from an essential element of this rapidly changing economic ecosystem.

Cintech’s support approach will enable participating companies to offer local food and products at competitive prices, while promoting sourcing from Quebec suppliers. The issue of cost price or profitability will be at the heart of objectives to strengthen local supply chains for the benefit of both companies and consumers.

“The completion of this major MEI-endorsed project will significantly enable Cintech agroalimentaire to provide turnkey support and implement the necessary tools to promote local sourcing among agri-food processing companies. This project will also contribute to the Quebec government’s objectives under the 2018-2025 Biofood Policy. Through the collaboration between our team of experts and various stakeholders and partners, we will succeed in improving the agility of agri-food companies to use and take advantage of local supply chains, thus aiming for economic and environmental spin-offs, out of the ordinary.”
