Government of Canada supports Cintech agroalimentaire in its food processing project
[CINTECH AGROALIMENTAIRE] TO RECEIVE $1 MILLION IN FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FROM DEC TO ACCELERATE THE GREEN SHIFT AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IN QUEBEC’S REGIONS.
Business support organizations have a key role to play in ensuring the environmental transition of the Quebec economy. They seek to innovate to help them become more competitive and grow in a greener world.
That’s why Annie Koutrakis, Member of Parliament for Vimy and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Tourism and Minister responsible for CED, today announced a non-repayable contribution of $1 million to Cintech agroalimentaire.
Thanks to this assistance from CED, the organization has been able to acquire and install technological equipment to develop and process new sources of plant protein-rich foods, and to support the industry in the production of new value-added finished products. DEC’s assistance covers the full cost of acquiring and installing this equipment, including a twin-screw extruder and an atomizer.
A major player in its industry, Cintech agroalimentaire is an innovation and applied research center affiliated with the Cégep de Saint-Hyacinthe, which seeks to meet the new food expectations of consumers and society in general, as well as the technological needs of the industry to accelerate its development. Thanks to its innovative projects, Cintech agroalimentaire has been supporting the development of agri-food processing companies since 1986.
A sustainable, fair and more inclusive economic recovery depends in particular on the green transition of businesses. The Government of Canada supports SMEs by promoting sustainable development in all regions of Quebec. Tailored programs and services are available to accelerate the realization of innovative projects, the adoption of clean technologies and the development of greener products. This is how CED helps Quebec businesses, entrepreneurs and workers to better position themselves and seize opportunities in an economy in transition.
“We need to help SMEs go green so they can carve out a place for themselves in tomorrow’s economy. That’s why the Government of Canada supports organizations like Cintech agroalimentaire, whose project to help companies reduce their environmental footprint, increase their competitiveness and innovate using clean technologies. I’d like to highlight the efforts of this organization, which is helping to build a sustainable economy. Congratulations!” The Honourable Annie Koutrakis, MP for Vimy and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Tourism and Minister responsible for CED
“The climate crisis is the biggest challenge of our time, and we need to help companies that want to be more environmentally friendly. That’s why the Government of Canada is supporting Cintech agroalimentaire in this project aimed at reducing the environmental footprint of businesses. The entire Cintech agroalimentaire team can be proud of this digital equipment acquisition and support project in the food processing sector, which is helping to build a better future for generations to come. A fine example to follow! The Honourable Soraya Martinez Ferrada, MNA for Hochelaga, Minister of Tourism and Minister responsible for CED
“This financial assistance of $1 million, in addition to the $3.84 million granted by CED over the past two years, is a significant contribution to the agri-food industry. This significant contribution from CED, added to Cintech’s total investment of $1.96 million, enables us to meet the industrial needs of agri-food companies seeking access to cutting-edge technologies. What’s more, our recent move to a larger, more modern building gives us even better access to our technology park and our experts, who play a fundamental role in our new offering to the market.” Jean Lacroix, CEO, Cintech agroalimentaire
