Customer testimonial – Ubald Distillerie
The Cintech agroalimentaire team supported Ubald in the development of three ready-to-serve cocktails: ESPRESSO MARTINI, AVIATION and COSMOPILITAN, in addition to other products under development. We spoke to Pascale Vaillancourt, one of the founders, about her company and the support she received from Cintech.
Who is Ubald?
This distillery, run by four founders, has been in existence for almost four years. It was born of a collaboration between agricultural enthusiasts and spirits lovers. They wanted to create true ready-to-drink cocktails and democratize them, knowing that this product category didn’t exist at the SAQ. The project took off with the upgrading of products. Ubald Distillerie’s first beverage was a vodka made from potatoes that had no market at Patates Dolbec, where Hugo d’Astous, one of Ubald’s founders, was general manager at the time. Today, from grain cultivation to bottling, everything is done directly at the company’s Saint-Ubald facility. It resonated with the founders that the products were created from their cultures.
Why did you choose Cintech?
Knowing that ready-to-drink cocktails were not categorized at the SAQ, it was difficult to carry out this project without calling in specialists. Pascale and her team had already heard of Cintech agroalimentaire, but it was at an event that they had the opportunity to present the project to them. Having done a lot of research beforehand, Pascale had many ideas, and meeting the specialists at Cintech enabled her to bring the project to fruition with a complementary team.
How did Cintech support you?
Ubald used both regulatory and product development services, as well as consumer testing. “We could never have brought all these services together. Cintech was a gas pedal and facilitator,” says Pascale, adding that “it wasn’t because everything was easy, but because the Cintech team always had the resources to help us, like a magic wand.”
Cintech’s experts challenged their ideas, and Pascale mentions that this is what took the project even further. She knows that if everything had been done in-house, it would have taken triple the time, whereas with Cintech, everything was executed with a highly professional turnkey service.
What was your experience with Cintech?
Pascale affirms that the deliverables have always been very clear and respected. Everyone at Cintech had their place, ensuring that the project ran smoothly. Cintech’s specialists were constantly finding solutions, and nothing was ever a problem. They provided all the necessary information, and fetched any missing data from external sources. Pascale and her team felt confident with Cintech throughout the project. . Pascale knows all about product development and how challenging it can be.
